New Tab Bookmark Columns — the Chrome extension that turns your new tab into resizable columns of your bookmarks.

Last updated 3 June 2026

We collect nothing.

No analytics, no tracking, no third-party servers, and nothing is ever sent to us. Everything stays in your own browser by default; the optional sync feature stores your layout in your own Google account — never anywhere we can see it. The sections below explain exactly what it touches and why.

Data we collect

None. New Tab Bookmark Columns does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal or user data. There are no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no remote servers involved in its operation.

Data the extension accesses, locally

To do its job, the extension reads and stores a few things — all of it stays inside your own browser profile.

Bookmarks
Read to display your bookmark folders as the new tab page, and edited only when you reorder, rename, move, hide, or delete them. Your bookmarks never leave your browser.
Local storage
Your layout, column widths, theme, open-folder state, hidden items, and a cached copy of site icons are saved in your local Chrome profile so the page restores between sessions. By default this data stays on your device.
Sync (optional, off by default)
If you turn on “Sync layout & settings,” your column layout and display settings (not your bookmarks, and not the favicon cache) are stored in Chrome's built-in sync storage so they follow you across the devices where you enable it. That data lives in your own Google account and is handled entirely by Chrome — it is never sent to us or any third party, and we cannot access it. The feature is off until you choose to enable it, and it is per-device. Turn it off and you can keep this device's layout or reset it to default.
Site icons
Displayed using Chrome's built-in favicon service. As an icon fallback, the extension may request a site's publicly available apple-touch-icon directly from that site's own domain. No browsing data is sent to us or any third party in the process.

Data sharing

We do not transfer any user data to third parties. We do not use or transfer your data for advertising, for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, or to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Permissions

The extension requests only what it needs to show and manage your bookmarks:

bookmarks
Read and edit the bookmark tree shown on the page.
storage
Remember your layout, theme, and favicon cache between sessions — and, if you enable sync, store your layout and settings in Chrome's synced storage (your Google account) so they follow you across devices.
favicon
Display each bookmarked site's icon next to its title.

Changes to this policy

If this extension's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above revised. The extension stays local-first and collects nothing for us, so we don't anticipate material changes.
